What Affects Switchgear Price for an Industrial Plant?<\/h2>

When planning electrical distribution for a factory, the switchgear price for industrial plant<\/strong> projects is usually one of the key items in the electrical equipment budget.<\/p>

However, there is no standard price that applies to every industrial plant. The final cost depends on the electrical capacity, incoming and outgoing circuits, circuit breaker selection, busbar design, enclosure requirements, protection functions, and applicable standards.<\/p>

For this reason, comparing switchgear only by the number of cabinets or the total quotation can be misleading.<\/p>

A better approach is to first understand what determines the configuration and then compare quotations based on the same technical requirements.<\/p>

Main Factors That Affect Industrial Switchgear Cost<\/h2>

1. Electrical Capacity<\/h3>

The capacity of the industrial power distribution system is an important starting point.<\/p>

A small factory with a limited electrical load will normally require a different LV switchgear configuration from a large manufacturing facility.<\/p>

The transformer capacity, expected load, incoming current, and distribution arrangement all influence the required switchgear ratings.<\/p>

2. Rated Current and Short-Circuit Capacity<\/h3>

The main busbar and circuit breakers need to be selected according to the electrical characteristics of the project.<\/p>

The busbar system needs to match the rated current and short-circuit requirements of the switchboard.<\/p>

Copper busbars are commonly used in industrial LV switchgear. However, the actual design also depends on the current rating, arrangement, insulation, support structure, and connection method.<\/p>

A quotation should therefore specify the main busbar configuration instead of simply stating that the cabinet has a “copper busbar.”<\/p>

5. Cabinet Structure and Internal Separation<\/h3>

The enclosure design is another factor that affects industrial switchgear cost.<\/p>

Different applications may require different levels of internal separation, access arrangements, cable entry methods, and protection against external influences.<\/p>

For projects requiring higher internal segregation or more complex maintenance arrangements, additional materials and assembly work may be required.<\/p>

Vietnam Case: 3,200 kVA Industrial Power Distribution Project<\/h2>

A recent project in Thai Nguyen Province, Vietnam<\/strong> provides a practical example.<\/p>

The project involved a 3,200 kVA power distribution system for an industrial plant<\/strong>. The electrical system was intended for the factory’s own power consumption and internal distribution.<\/p>

Haocheng Electric’s scope in this project was the low-voltage switchgear<\/strong>.<\/p>

The company was responsible for supplying the LV switchgear within the overall electrical distribution system. Other equipment and parts of the project were outside our supply scope.<\/p>

This distinction is important when discussing project cost. The price of the LV switchgear should not be confused with the total investment in the plant’s electrical system.<\/p>

Why the Project Capacity Matters<\/h2>

A 3,200 kVA industrial power system requires a properly configured low-voltage distribution system.<\/p>

The switchgear needs to be matched with the project’s electrical design, including the incoming power arrangement and distribution to different factory loads.<\/p>

For the equipment supplier, the key task is therefore not simply to provide a standard cabinet. The LV switchgear needs to be configured according to the customer’s actual electrical requirements.<\/p>

This is also why the same number of LV cabinets can have very different prices between two industrial projects.<\/p>

What Was Considered in the Vietnam Project?<\/h2>

For the 3,200 kVA project, the low-voltage switchgear was considered as part of the factory’s internal power distribution system.<\/p>

The configuration needed to take into account factors such as:<\/p>
